Demosthenes Vouyioukas received the five-year Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from NTUA, in 1996 and 2003 respectively. He has also received a Joint Engineering-Economics M.Sc. from NTUA. He is currently an Assistant Professor and member of the Computer and Communication Systems Laboratory in the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, University of the Aegean, Greece. He serves as a scientific coordinator in several National research projects (e.g. PEDION24, GSRT-EPIKOUROS, EMF Measurements), wherein the past he has served as research associate and project manager in several European research projects (e.g. FP6-IST-UNITE, FP6-IST-MAESTRO, FP5-IST-SATIN, ACTS-229-INSURED, COST 2100, COST 297). His research interests include mobile and wireless communication systems, channel characterization and propagation models, performance modeling of wireless networks, cooperative wideband systems with relays, wireless sensors and broadband networks, next generation mobile and satellite networks, MIMO and Femtocell technologies. In this area, he has published over 70 papers in scientific journals, book chapters and international conference proceedings. Since 1997 he is a member of IEEE and member of IEEE Communication Society of the Greek Section, a member of IFIP and ACM and also a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece. He also serves as Guest Editor of International Journal of Antennas and Propagation, Hindawi, as an Associate Editor of Telecommunication Systems Journal, Springer, and has served as a Technical Committee member in several international conferences.
